The first delicious bite of pizza. Melted cheese and spices with a crisp crust … Is your mouth watering yet? Once out of the oven, you wait a few minutes to take the bite. No matter how hungry you are, waiting is the safe approach to avoid burning the top of your mouth. The adhesive sealing your pizza box needs to be treated with the same care during application to avoid harm to the team operating the production line.
Increased Safety in End of Line Packaging Adhesives
Keeping workers safe is a priority for food and beverage manufacturers as they work to supply retailers with consumer goods. The team on the production line is assuring adhesive tanks are filled, there are no operational issues and the hot melt application pattern is consistent. Food and beverage manufacturers are looking for solutions to keep their production lines running and their employees safe. Just like the first bite of pizza, it is about making sure we are protected from burns.
Henkel plays a role in improving production efficiency with low application temperature adhesives. Improving worker safety, the adhesives are melted at much lower temperatures and avoid potential burn hazards. Hot melt adhesives used for case and carton sealing are typically applied at 177oC (350oF). While caution and proper protective equipment are always required when handling hot melt, TECHNOMELT® Cool case and carton sealing adhesives are applied at lower temperatures – up to 40% compared to conventional hot melts improving safety and work environment. Melting point is up to 38°C (100°F) lower than conventional hot melt adhesives, TECHNOMELT® Cool hot melt adhesives drop below burn temperatures nine times faster. Additionally, the lower melt point makes TECHNOMELT® Cool products suitable for temperature-sensitive contents like frozen foods and confections and reduces the risk of heat transfer.
